NORTHWOOD, N.H. -- A raging six-alarm fire destroyed an historic property in Northwood Thursday. Flames consumed a barn and part of a house known as the Old Johnson Dairy Farm. The wall of fire drew a massive regional response, bringing crews from as far away as the Seacoast, Lakes Region and the I-89 corridor. The property is rented by a family of nine. Three children and their uncle were home at the time of the fire and escaped to safety.

The 150-foot barn was a pile of smoldering rubble Thursday night, and the home, while still standing, sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage. Residents are counting their blessings -- no one was hurt and everyone in Northwood seems to be offering help. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Northwood Fire Chief said it appears to have started in a structure between the historic farm house and the barn.

Ed.: The residents of the home are a CWA member, Donna Eagan, and her family.  Donna has 7 children and the family lost everything in the fire. The kids are Rhiannon Egan 18; Kyle Wood 15; Connor Wood 13; Dylan Wood 12; Rylee Wood 11; and Lucas Wood 9. Donna Egan, Steve Wood, and Dan Proulx are the three adults within the family.  Donations should be forwarded to Cassie Xintaras or Julie Labonte at 875 Holt Avenue in Manchester.  Money may be donated to NORTHEAST CREDIT UNION either on line banking or mailing a check to Northeast Credit Union to ACCOUNT # 56493893 address: Northeast Credit Union, P.O.
