Speaker O'Brien has named January 4th & 5th as the next dates the legislature will meet in Concord.  According to the House Calendar, the session will meet on January 4th at 9am to finish the 2011 Session work.  When that is complete they will open the 2012 Session and take up retained bills.  It is expected that they will take up retained bills on the 4th and continue on the 5th.

You may recall that HB383 was retained.  This bill is relevant to prohibiting the collection of certain agency fees from state employees who are not members of the state employees' association.  Basically, this is a Right to Work (for less) bill aimed at state employees.  In previous sessions, according to house rules, retained bills were taken up in the beginning of the session.  It is my understanding that this rule has been changed and that the Speaker can take this bill up at any time during the upcoming session.  Right... here we go again!

See you at the Statehouse! We have a lot of work to do...
